In January, ancestry.co.uk added a new database entitled Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects, 1901-1929. It has provided extra snippets of information about several of our men; mostly details of war gratuities paid, next of kin and other family members. As a result, many of the individual pages have been updated.

Service of Remembrance - War Memorial Oakdale: 9th November 2014

Join us for this annual event, when we remember the war dead of our community. The march will assemble at the Presbyterian Church at 10.40am, the service will take place at 11am on the Square. This year is particular poignant as we mark the centenary of the First World War and this year's service will reflect that. After the service refreshments will be available at the community centre.
